Bardo Open Doors Project

On our agenda for February :

The " Bardo Open Doors''
Because we bring professionals to your school's doorstep.

One of our students' major issues today , is their lack of professional experience which ends up hindering their active and fast integration within their future firms. Any student nowadays , and especially as his graduation approaches , feels worried as he fails to put , the theoretical knowledge he has acquired during years of extensive education , into practice.

One of our chief concerns in AIESEC , is to bridge the gap between students and enterprises in order to ensure a smooth transition from universities to future working environments and that by bringing the two parts together and create a communication interface that helps get them closer.
In order to achieve this vision , the local committee of AIESEC Bardo in Tunisia , has set a number of events  to reconcile the two spheres .

This month , our local committee organizes one of this year's highly anticipated events : the " Bardo Open Doors " , which will take place in one of the most prestigious Tunisian universities:  ISG (Higher Institute of Manegement)
The BOD have become a part of our Bardo traditions , as we launch this year the 3rd edition of this event , from the 21th to the 22th of February .

A plethora of products and activities will be introduced to the students who will be attending our open doors . Our partners will be placing exhibition stands to present their goods and will give insights about their working areas and their corporations to guide those who are interested in pursuing a distinguished professional career , by answering their different questions .

"Bardo Open Doors " are an interesting opportunity to get inside the business world and acquire some genuine experience by mingling with Tunisian professionals , who would not hesitate to share their success stories with you .  Be there and seize the opportunity ! Stand out of the crowd .

"If you would know the road ahead, ask someone who has traveled it."

Red & White Project

Revolutionaries ,
What have we prepared for you ??

The RED & White project : AIESEC Bardo's tribute to the underprivileged communities .. in the making.

The Tunisian revolution that has taken the world by storm in 2011 , has revealed some chocking truths about certain regions in Tunisia.
The uprising that was initially triggered by feelings of despair and oppression , uncovered the miserable circumstances that some people from internal areas live in.
Illiteracy , joblessness and other social plagues have given birth ,after the revolution, to other corruptions such as drug-use and juvenile
delinquency .

The RED & WHITE program:
This initiative was developed in AIESEC Bardo , as an attempt to help the needy in the forgotten areas of the country . It targets the fields of education and drug addiction . The actual purpose of this project is to help shed light on the lives of the needy by drawing national and international attention to the hardships they are enduring . The program consists in receiving qualified trainees of different nationalities to give free-language  courses -mainly English- to children . Another group of trainees , after undertaking a specialized training ship about drug addiction , will conduct campaigns to warn against toxicomania and raise public awareness to its dangers.
This program will take place in March, in the northwestern Tunisian states of Zaghouan , Beja and el Kef , along with some cultural activities in Tunis .

AIESEC Bardo in Tunisia is paving the way for you:
Starting this global community development program aims mainly at giving universal proportions to voluntary work . Social problems are an international concern that needs to be given international care and support .. and that's how AIESEC functions , by relying on a worldwide platform of a 108 countries.
This project reinforces associations and NGO's role in Tunisia and highlights the importance of these organisms in the progress of the country . International prosperity can only be achieved through voluntary group work and a strong will from the community , in order to make a serious impact ...

Be a part of a life changing experience . Be a part of something bigger than your ordinary trivial life and make a change through an action that will make a difference !
Support our program .. Create the buzz

How to pitch an idea ?

How to pitch an idea ?

So , being an AIESECer , an active member in any given organisation or even a simple employee aspiring for promotion , requires the skill of Persuasion!
In the realm of the business world , that would be a key competence if you want to climb up the professional ladder .
How many times did we feel the need to use some fancy talk , or to dig up some old arguments in a desperate attempt to impress our contact !
I know I've been there ...
So , seek no more ; here are some tips fixed by experts to guide your way ...

As Scott Berkun said :
" Coming up with good ideas is hard enough , but convincing others to do something with them is even harder"
So , you can start whining and go on and on about how cruel people can be and how misunderstood and totally unappreciated you are ; or you can gear up and go for it . At least this will gain you the admiration and respect of the people around you , in case your idea was not a hit . But let's not go there ..

-To start with ,  get the idea :
When that little light bulb goes off in your head , do not panic ! Write it down and try to develop it . An idea when first conceived is a little rough .. take the time to refine it and add to it before you spell it out . Anyone can have a ' good idea' , it is how you express it and how well you can talk about it , that makes the difference . Do not rush it ! Get acquainted with your conception

- Look up the people in charge :
Pitching an idea means that you will have to leave it in the hands of others . These 'others' should not remain anonymous to you .. find out all the information you can get about them . Google can be very helpful .. professional networks and blogs could also enlighten you .. Ask people you know about ' the decision makers ' that can literally change your life . Their tastes , their preferences , their general moods if possible , and other little details about them ; and adapt your pitch to them . Just Investigate !

- Get ready :
Prepare your words , your arguments and focus on the strengths of the idea or the project . Ask yourself all the possible questions that the person you will be meeting , can throw at you . Formulate your sentences , get rid of the rigid " structures" that you have already seen . Go from random arguments to fully developed sentences .

-Simulate :
The last trial before the the 'final show ' . Put yourself in the mood of the interview and give your pitch . Find people you trust , who can provide you with an unbiased assessment and test yourself and your command of the idea . They might draw your attention to things you have missed or failed to cover . It is a great exercise , do not hesitate to do it .

- The Big Day !
You are there , probably half an hour in advance , sweating like a runner and maybe having some trouble breathing correctly .. Do not back down : It is your idea , it convinced the people around you and you have covered every possible aspect of it . You are ready to deliver . Be calm , self-assured and do not let your stress get the best of you . Impression is the most valuable card in your hand so try not to waste it . Try to remain indifferent to their reactions and do not get nervous by their questions .
Also , try to work some magic by adding some " special effects " to the pitch . Technology can work like a charm !

At last , and no matter what the result was , make an evaluation of what you have presented . Your reactions , your speech and your attitude . If you have a partner , ask him to give you a candid evaluation of your pitch .
And remember : do not underestimate yourself , nor your idea : Ideas can get you places ..

Good luck ..

My life story with AIESEC

How did AIESEC help me overcome my disability...

I had always been looking for the purpose of life. Then, I understood that to live is actually to make an impact on the world, by leaving an achievement that could mark humanity.  In order to fulfill this purpose, I decided to join the associative life which, to my mind, would help me overcome my handicap. I know that it is not that big of a deal, but, i was highly aware of my disability. It has been so hard, yet very self-challenging ...  So, i needed to be busy, to focus on certain goals and to be a productive person.

I enrolled in ESSECT, where I first heard about AIESEC: the biggest youth international organization worldwide, whose main activity is to provide professional exchange opportunities. Besides, it develops the leadership role and teaches its members to make a positive impact on society. For that, I have joined AIESEC, and I have fallen in love with it. Through seminars made by the organization, I realized that I belong to a huge network, not only a national one but also, an international one.
There are high local committees in Tunisia: in Tunis, Nabeul, Sousse and in Sfax . Since AIESEC is active in more than 110 countries, we get the opportunity to meet and mingle with people from all walks of life, with various nationalities and different races. We also get to be familiar with their traditions and their ways of thinking. We live diversity as we represent our countries.
We, in AIESEC, run also various projects. Our chief project in Tunisia is the Career Days in which we help students with the process of obtaining internships, usually offered by the participating companies. Then , we have the sustainability projects which, allow us to practice making a positive impact on society … the activities of AIESEC enlighten the path to professional and personal development. We learn how to run projects, how to negotiate with others, especially with companies, how to acquire communication skills and be dedicated to innovation. It also teaches us how to care about the humankind…
In brief, AIESEC prepares us to be leaders; that’s what it does!

Last year, I wasn’t able be an active member because I went through a new treatment to help me with my sickness. Unfortunately, it wasn’t efficient..
That led me to conclude that maybe one shouldn’t try to fix what has already been broken, but rather, tries to focus on his talent and his assets ! One needs to move on...  I also realized that I have missed AIESEC; it’s been like a cure to me.
My career within AIESEC is still in its early beginnings. I am so excited to go aboard for an internship and to stamp my mark on AIESEC

I am proud to be an AIESECer :)
